Roy was born on September 12, 1921, in Blaisdell, ND, the son of Harry and Rose (Rock) Bruhn. He attended school in Blaisdell and later joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. in Foxholm, ND. While working with the C.C.C. Roy graduated from high school in Williston in 1940, and later attended college in Grand Forks, ND.
He married Eletha Hansen on June 9, 1945, in Palermo, ND. In 1946, Roy went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad. During his employment Roy and Eletha lived in various locations around North Dakota until he retired in 1981.
Roy loved playing the guitar and fishing.
Survivors: daughter, Edith Goettle (Leon), Donnybrook, ND; granddaughter, Allison Courneya and her friend Jay Holgerson, great-grandsons, Max and Kyle Courneya, all of Williston; sister, Florence Johnson (Chester), Palermo; brothers, Lawrence Bruhn (Darlene), Palermo, and Gilbert Bruhn (Mary), Wolf Point, MT; sisters-in-law, Martha Bruhn, Vera Nelsen and Mildred Fiest, all Minot; brothers-in-law, Melvin and Clayton Hansen, both of Rochester, MN; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Eletha parents, son, Richard, brothers, Julius and Earl Bruhn, sister, Ethel Stave, sister-in-law, Elaine Logan, and brothers-in-law, Richard and David Hansen.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Visitation: Tuesday, Today, March 16, 2004, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
