John H. Bast, a well known citizen of Boonsboro, aged 74 years, died at his home at that place Monday night about 8 o'clock of stomach trouble following an illness of two weeks. He was a cousin of Simon L. Bast, of Braddock, this county, where he was born and where he resided until 6 or 7 years ago until he moved to Boonsboro, where he lived a retired life. While at Braddock, Mr. Bast was a trucker. He was a veteran of the Civil War and served in the Union Army as a member of Co. 1, 13th Maryland Infantry. He is survived by his widow and one son, William Bast, an undertaker at Boonsboro. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. The funeral arrangements, of which Obenderfer & Son of this city have charge, have not yet been made.

Funeral of John H. Bast

The funeral of Mr. John H. Bast will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock from his late home in Boonsboro. Services will be held at the house and will be conducted by the Rev. L. A. Bush, Pastor of the Lutheran Church, and interment will be made in the Boonsboro Cemetery. F. W. Obenderfer & Son, of this city, have charge of the funeral.
