Death notice from the Boonville Weekly Advertiser:page 8, column 1.

Mrs. Susan Pulley, one of the oldest residents of Cooper County, died Sunday March 4th, 1923 at the home of her son A.L. Pulley of south Moniteau Township, where she had been cared for by her son and family and her daughter, Mrs. Emma Stephens, since her several weeks illness which was caused by a stroke of paralysis.

Funeral services were held at the Pulley home, Monday afternoon by Rev. C.E. Hampton, pastor of Tipton Baptist Church, and an appropriate song service was rendered by a quartet from Tipton composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ray White and Messrs. James and Berkey.

Mrs. Pulley was a daughter of C.W. (Charles) and Mary Kavanaugh, pioneer residents of Morgan County. She was born Sept 30, 1840 and in early life became the wife of Doc Lett. To this union were born 3 children, one of whom, Mrs. Price Stephens of Affton, Oklahoma survives. Later in life she was married to Carlos Pulley of Cooper County and to this union were born two children, only one of whom, Aetna L. survives.

Mr. Pulley died a number of years ago and Mrs. Pulley is now survived by besides her daughter and son, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mary Landers of Longmont, Colorado, Mrs. L.W. Clifton, Ft. Summer, New Mexico, and Mrs. Ella Aldham, Shawnee, Oklahoma and one brother, William Kavanaugh of Versailles, MO. along with a number of nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Pulley was converted in early life and joined the Baptist Church. She had been a faithful member of Hopewell Church for more than 40 years and was a woman of many splendid traits of characters. She will be greatly missed by relatives and friends and for many years she had been a familiar figure in the community where she had lived so long. Up to and within a few weeks of her death, she drove around the community with her old faithful buggy horse, Old Tom. She was held in great affection by all that knew her.
