FIFE LAKE - Morton Dale "Mort" Chapelle, 58, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at his home in Fife Lake. He was born Oct. 9, 1944, in Flint, the son of the late Frederick M. Chapelle and Maybelle (Albro) Chapelle Ranger.
He graduated from Beecher High School in 1962.
Mort worked at Feke & Yott Meats in Mt. Morris Township and Double D Supermarkets in Flint. He was a great artist.
Mort is survived by his wife, MaDonna; a son, Eric (Diane) Chapelle of New Jersey; three daughters, Wendy (Matt) Hyder of Mt. Morris, Marcy (David) Fischer of Wisconsin and Heather LaFuze of Saginaw; grandchildren, Nolan and Alyssa Chapelle, Nathan and Mack Hyder, Joshua, Derek and Tyler Fischer, and Destinee Bell. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Douglas (Wanda) Chapelle, Violet (Paul) Labian, Duane (Mary) Chapelle, Bernie (Rolland) Scully, Joyce (Dan) Cannon, Paula (Leonard) Mauer, Pamela Fuller and Paul (Nan) Ranger; an aunt, Pauline (John) Patrick; many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding Mort in death were two sisters, Delores Chapelle Dolan of Mt. Morris and Darline Chapelle Taylor of Fennville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 23, at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, where friends may call from noon until time of services.
Burial will take place in Fife Lake Cemetery.
