Mrs. Alfred Mullican 65, of Eunice, was killed near here at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday In a two- car collision that injured her husband and sister, and the driver of the other auto, state police reported.
The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highways 190 and 167 just east of Opelousas. It brought to eight the number of traffic fatalities in St. Landry Parish this year.
Mrs. Mullican and her husband were passengers in a car driven by her sister, Miss Tuler Roy, 501 South 5th St., Eunice. State police said the car went into the eastbound lane of U.S. 190, from U.S. 167, into the path of a car driven by Paul Ronald Nezat, 23, of Port Barre.
Mullican and Miss Roy were in Opelousas General Hospital suffering from serious cuts and other injuries. Nezat was given emergency treatment and released.
Trooper R. L. Montgomery of Troop K cited Miss Roy for running a stop sign and negligent homicide. He was assisted in the Investigation by Lt. L. B. Carriere.
Mrs. Mullican's body was at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice, awaiting arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Miss Alfrida Mullican, New Orleans; Mrs. Roger Travasos, Lafayette; Mrs. Gordon Hebert of Port Allen; one son, John Mullican, Loreauville, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Peck, Opelousas, Miss Tuler Roy, Eunice; Mrs. A, J. Lavergne, Eunice; five brothers, C. B. Roy, R. J. Roy, J. R. "Hook'' Roy, and Stanley Roy, all of Eunice, and J, W. Roy of Opelousas; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eleanor Herbert of Lafayette; and 11 grandchildren.
