Brasher Falls: It was with surprise and sadness Thursday morning that we learned of the death of Dr. George F. Hall. He had been a resident of this place for the past 18 or 20 years and during that time had made many friends. During the civil war he enlisted in the U.S. Service and served his first term of enlistment, when he re-enlisted. The exposure and hardship of a soldier's life in a measure left him in poor health, from which he never fully regained. For a number of years after coming here, he followed his profession and was considered a very able physician, but for the past few years has been unable to practice. Since the death of his wife in the fall of '92, he has lived alone, but kind neighbors have ever been willing and ready to assist him and he has been a welcome guest at any of their homes. His bodily infirmities were such that for several days at a time, he would be unable to be out, and then kind neighbors and friends would look after and care for him.
Wednesday evening, May 18, having had one of these spells he was asked by a neighbor, if he did not wish someone to remain with him that night, but he thought it unnecessary. Thursday morning Mrs. Rogers, a near neighbor stepped in and found him dead. A telegram was immediately sent to his brother Thomas Hall of Saratoga and he and his wife were present at the funeral
The funeral was held at his late residence Saturday morning, Rev. L T. Cole officiated, assisted by Rev. L. T. Conrad. The Hon. C. T. Hulburd, a very intimate friend of his, made remarks that bore testimony to his exemplary life and Christian spirit.
