Peggy received her public schooling in Augusta, Kansas and Hutchinson, Kansas near where her father was owner/operator of Jock Garden Oil Company, a contact drilling company (wildcatting).
She graduated from Hutchinson (Ks.) High School in 1936 and attended North Central College, Naperville, Ill. (freshman year), Lindenwood College, St. Charles, Mo. (soph. year), and the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas (jr. year).
She married on April 8, 1938 at Trinity Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas to Cyrus Milton Wesley. To this union was born three sons, Richard, Robert & William.
During World War II, Peggy's husband became an officer in the US Army Air Corps with training in Florida and assignments at Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Great Falls, Montana.
After the war years they returned to Kansas and eventually settled in Stafford. They enjoyed entertaining friends with whom they played golf and penny-ante poker.
Peggy was a good cook and Milt maintained a well-stocked bar.
The family spent 10 years in Tucson, Arizona (1956-1966), living most of that time in a lovely home next to the #3 tee of Oro Valley County Club Estates. The family then moved on to Santa Monica, California. She took employment (1967-1973) as a new accounts clerk, teller and customer service representative at the Southern California First National Bank in Santa Monica.
During their retirement years, they continued to entertain visiting friends at their home in El Centro, California and then in Rio Rico, Arizona.
After Milt died, Peggy married Thomas A. Harney on Sep. 18, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to his home in Galena, Illinois. They enjoyed golfing, going on cruises and gambling at riverboat casinos. Later, the two took up residence at Wesley Towers, a retirement complex in Hutchinson, Kansas.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, The Daughters of the Nile and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a past President of the Oro Valley Women's Golf Association.
As per her request, Peggy was cremated and half of her ashes was buried with each of her two spouses.
