Gretchen Schwinn Desort Services Thursday 4 p.m.
Mrs. Gretchen Schwinn Desort, age 73, passed away Monday evening at the Yavapai community Hospital.
Prominent and charitable and cultural activities, she had resided in Prescott since 1950 when she and her husband, Gus, purchased their ranch home west of Prescott. They had recently sold their ranch to the Girl Scouts of Arizona and established their residence at 2400 Note the Dr.
She was a member of the Smoki People, Hillaides, Pink Ladies, Jeep Posse, and the Civil Air Patrol as well as her generous activities in her many private charities.
Among her survivors are, her husband, Augustus J. (Gus) Desort of Prescott; two daughters, Mrs. Pepper Arnhem White of Charleston West Virginia and Mrs. Betty Desort Dembecki of Tempe; a sister Elizabeth Schwinn of Chicago, Illinois, and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted by father Francis Pyka of the Sacred Heart Church at Mountain View Cemetery at 4 p.m. December 3.
She will lie in state at their Ruffner Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. In recognition of Mrs. Desort's longtime community interest the family prefers member memorials to the Yavapai Community Hospital which may be sent to P.O. Box 61, Prescott, Ariz., or left at the Ruffner Funeral Home.
