St. Petersburg Times (FL) - March 25, 2009 Deceased Name: HENRY , Jean McAvoy Jean passed away peacefully on March 10, 2009 in Wildomar, CA after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Clayton, NY on November 19, 1932. She graduated as salutatorian from Clayton Central School, Clayton, NY in 1949. Jean also graduated top of her class from Central City Business Institute, Syracuse, NY in 1951. Jean also loved spending time with Dolores and Dan Whipkey and the numerous friends she had. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Shreveport, LA. Jean had a very strong will and didn't have an ounce of quit in her. She was one to always complete what she started. She stayed strong until the end. Jean did not wish for a ceremony but her children will each have a day to honor and celebrate their mother's life. Family and friends are welcome. Please contact us for details. She will always be remembered with love by her family and friends and will be sadly missed. We know she is in a much better place now and one day we will see each other again. Jean & I were distant cousins who worked on genealogy together through e mail . She was living in Clearwater , Florida at the time.
We had planed to go to the library together but never got a chance to do so. Altho I never met her in person we became very close. She moved to Ca in 2007 for her health, she had breathing problems. She is greatly missed.I am not sure at this time where her burial isI had exchanged Gotham genealogy with Jean for years but hadn't heard from her in a long time .
I received an e mail tonight from her niece that she had passed away on March 10, 2009. She
had C.O.P.D. She joined this site a little while after I did, maybe some of you also knew her.
She once told me she had a small pocket watch that had belonged to Zuba Gotham. She will
be missed..Thelma Moye

I, too, knew Jean. We are both McAvoys even though we could not connect our families. I've also heard the Gotham
name over the years--but have not made that connection (yet) either. Jean gave me several leads that
were connections for my branch. She will be missed. Pat McAvoy-Costin

Here is Jean's obituary that I found on the internet:
