November 1935, Well Known Lady Passes Away on Monday Evening--Mrs. Peter A. Riggle Is Victim of Heart Ailment After Being Ill for Some Time--FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE FRIDAY AFTERNOON--Was Resident of Eddy County the Past Thirty-Four Years and Highly Exteemed
Funeral services for Mrs. Peter A. Riggle will be conducted at the Methodist church in this city at two o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. C.M. Brown, pastor of the church, officiating. Rev. Brown will be assisted by C.E. Soderholm. Mrs. Riggle's death occurred Monday evening at six o'clock from a heart ailment from which she had been suffering for some time. Pall Bearers at the funeral will be Ed Hogue, Arthur Warren, Julius Moe, Fred Davies, Thomas Welsh and John Weeks, old friends and neighbors of the deceased and her family, and interment will be in Prairie Home cemetery.
Mrs. C.E. Soderholm and the Richterquartette will also sing at the funeral services.
Mary Magdelene Hunter was born September 25, 1872, the daughter of Calvin and Martha Hunter and her marriage to Peter A. Riggle took place in Missouri in June, 1888. The family came to Devils Lake in 1898 but they returned to Missouri and then went to Washington and finally came to New Rockford in 1901 and engaged in farming until ten years ago when they moved to New Rockford and have made their home here since. She leaves besides her husband and two daughters, Alma and Shirley of Fargo, seven sons: Charles and Raymond at New Rockford; Frank at Eureka, Utah; Clark, Cascade Locke, Ore.; Robert, Rhinelander, Wis.; Bert, Chicago; Ted, Ashton, Idaho. There are 13 grandchildren.
A large concourse of friends who have known and loved the deceased during her many years of residence in this community join us in extending their sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones inthe loss of a dutiful wife and an exemplary mother.
