MASON CITY — Betty L. Fjone, 68, of Mason City died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at her home. Betty was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Mason City, the daughter of Gilbert and Lucretia (Gilman) Fjone. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. She is survived by daughters, Dawn Olinger of Independence, Kan., and Dixie Olinger of Mason City; sister, Jean Ellis of New Haven, Ind.; brother, John Fjone and wife, Marjorie, of Thornton; sister, Patricia Williams of Olympia, Wash.; three granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents.Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, (641) 423-0924.

Following a private memorial service, friends and family are invited to gather at her home at 2 p.m. Sunday at 95 Sunny Circle. Memorials may be given to the Betty L. Betty was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Mason City, the daughter of Gilbert and Lucretia (Gilman) Fjone. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. In 1960 she moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. She worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Palm Beach. She then worked for 10 years as bookkeeper for the Palm Beach County School Board. Betty moved to New Haven, Ind., in 1999 and moved to Mason City in 2001. Betty taught Sunday School, did job training — clerical work, bookkeeping, accounting, logistics, enjoyed water skiing, ocean fishing, boating, card playing and was a wonderful homemaker.

She is survived by daughters, Dawn Olinger of Independence, Kan., and Dixie Olinger of Mason City; sister, Jean Ellis of New Haven, Ind.; brother, John Fjone and wife, Marjorie, of Thornton; sister, Patricia Williams of Olympia, Wash.; three granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
