At this time, there is limited information about Elva's parents.
Available documents show her mother Martha "Mattie" C. (Cox) Hurley-Allred born January 1872 or 1873 in Arkansas, and death August 7, 1962 in Los Angeles, California (possibly). Mattie's parents were Robert A "Bob" Cox and Virginia Beatrice (Hardgrave) Cox-Roach.
Elva's fathers given name is unknown at this time, however his name "may" have been S. S. Hurley as a marriage license in Cooke County, Texas dated 19 July 1890 to a Martha C. Cox has been found in Family Search.
It appears Mr Hurley was born in Arkansas and died prior to the 1900 Federal Census taken in June 1900 in the Choctaw Nation. More research is needed as this may not be the case.
Elva's mother Martha C. (Cox) Hurley married E. C. "Lee" Allred July 30, 1901 in Oklahoma.
Elva had the following siblings:
Leola C. "Lee" (Hurley) Canary
Willey "Willie" Sylvester Hurley
Lillie Oma (Hurley) Haworth-Hurley
Lottie C. (Hurley) Scott
Lona Elmer (Hurley) Walker
Elva had the following "known" 1/2 siblings:
Mary Carolina (Allred)Scott-Blankenship
Callie (Allred) Griffin
Silas B Allred
Elva was called "Little Grandma" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren (as she was very short). She always air-whistled (not a true whistle-if you know what I mean) while she did anything. She loved to crumble corn bread in her milk coffee, and she loved listening to ball games on the radio.
Elva married Robert T. Sullins on July 10, 1911 in Washita County, Oklahoma, and had the following children:
Edison "Ed" R. 1913-1988
Elmer Enos 1914-1979
Truman Elva 1916-1969
Roy 1919-195
Velma Mae 1922-2005
Freddie 1924-1939 (death year approx)
Later in life, Elva married Augusta Thomas "Gus" Ohlendick in 1960.
