Joann Lynn Myers (1959 - 2011)

Joann Lynn Myers, 52, went to be with her Master in the morning hours of Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with a service led by Mark Berry, director of Bread Basket Ministry. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Joann accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her late teens while attending a ministry for the deaf at a church in Dallas. She remained faithful in her walk with the Lord while ministering to others in the deaf community. She received an award for the voluntary assistance to an elderly lady who was blind and deaf. Joann and the elderly lady communicated with each other by feeling each other's hands as they performed hand sign language. She provided this service over an extended period of time. Joann was diligent in her study of the Bible in her effort to learn more of God's Word. Although limited in her physical capabilities, the greatest contribution Joann made in her service to her Lord was to demonstrate to her family and close friends how to live life to its fullest. Her physical limitation consisted of a series of physical handicaps, such as total deafness from birth, a bipolar condition and Bell's paralysis. In spite of these limitations, she lived a life of service to her Lord that contributed to the spiritual growth of all those that she came in contact with. Thus making each one of us who knew her a better person by the example she set during her life. (Ephesians 2: 8-10)

Survivors: Mother and father, Yvonne and Hal Myers; sisters, Jeanette Tenpenny and husband, Jim, and Annette Rossow and husband, Matt; nieces, Jamie Mizell and husband, Brian, and Dr. Joy Tenpenny; nephews, Silas Rossow and wife, Julie, and Seth Rossow and wife, Michelle; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
