Milka "Millie"Emilia Duke, 75, Florence, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001.Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001 at Spry-Serenity Chapel, Florence. The funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Florence, with the Rev. David A. Doroh officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.A native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, she was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Friends of the Library, Our Redeemer Ladies Guild and the Pierian Club. She was retired from First Southern Bank of Florence after 52 years of service, having served on the First Southern Bank board of directors until May 2001.She was preceded in death by her parents, Iver Lauri and Alma Ahonen Seppanen. Sisters, Linda Viola and Laura Elina Seppanen.Survivors include her husband, Oscar Welborn Duke of Florence; son, Iver Wayne Duke and wife Frances Ann of Florence; grandson, Michael Wayne Duke; aunt, Senia Ahonen Womble and husband, Jim.Pallbearers will include Richard Almond, Clyde Holder, Kenneth Kelley, Joe Phillips, Norman Schenck and John VanSandt.Honorary bearers will be Grady B. Ward, William E. Batson, Kenneth Williams, Alvin L. Lovelace and the First Southern Bank board of directors.Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library or to Our Redeemer Endowment Fund.Spry-Serenity Chapel Florence, is directing.
