According to Nannie’s death certificate, on 21 Sep 1922, she was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Paynesville, Jefferson County, Indiana. However, the obituary published on 21 Sep 1922 in The Kokomo (IN) Tribune newspaper provided by FAG Contributor Karen Phillips states otherwise:
"Mrs. Farrell's Funeral. Short funeral services were held this morning at the home of O. N. Farrell, 1039 Home avenue, son of Mrs. Nannie B. Farrell, 72, who died at that residence yesterday, the body being taken to Vevay, Switzerland county, where the funeral will be held and the burial had. The deceased was a native of that county and lived there until brought here by her son several years ago. She was the widow of Hannibal Farrell, a veteran of the Civil war. Ten children survive. They are: O. N. Farrell, Kokomo; Hannibal Farrell, Ripley county; Mrs. Dora B. Grant, South Bend; John Farrell, West Lebanon; Mrs. Charles Smith, Moorefield; Esau Farrell, Los Angelews; Mrs. George Hotchkiss, Anderson; Mrs. Jessie Cotton, Moorefield; Mrs. S.C. Newton, Weedman, Ill.; and M. H. Farrell, Cross Plains, Ind. There are also four sisters: Mrs. L. M. Tague of this city; Mrs. Richard White of Danville, Ill.; Mrs. James Banta of Lamb, Ind.; and Mrs. George Lock of Vevay.”
At the time of her Civil War widow’s pension application, 23 July 1910, Nannie reported that she and Hannibal had 10 (living) children:
