James Thomas Abbott, 71, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, in a local healthcare facility. James was a carpenter by trade, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Emma Abbott; sister, Janie Abbott; brother, Dewey Abbott Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Hardy; brother, James Guy Abbott; his companion, Ruth Dye; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Benson and Samuel Benson; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in Ooltewah Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Cate officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday from 10:30 until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin Strickland Pinkard Bryan Smith Funeral Directors, 1724 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN.
