SPRINGFIELD - C. Fred Ray, 81, of Springfield died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born May 28, 1925, in Olney, the son of Fred and Nellie Toliver Ray. He married Kathryn Streder in 1947. A son, Gary Allen Ray, preceded him in death.
Mr. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a claims litigation supervisor for Standard Mutual Insurance Co. after 27 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Knights of Columbus Council 364 and American Legion Post 32.
Survivors: wife, Kathryn; daughter, Linda D. (husband, Joe) McMahon of Springfield; three sons, Larry W. (wife, Nancy) Ray of Springfield, Richard D. Ray of Salt Lake City and Frederick M. (wife, Weili) Ray of Irvine, Calif.; six grandchildren; sister, Flora Blain of St. Louis; brother, Andy Ray of Prescott, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Blessed Sacrament Church, the Rev. David Hoefler officiating.
