He was born (probably in Syracuse) John Golminski, Jr., son of John Golminski and Anna Behnke Golminski. On 24 August 1905 at the age of 14 he saved the life of a five-year-old neighbor by plunging into the Oswego Canal near his home to rescue the drowning boy. At that time his family lived near the Solar Coarse Salt yards near the Bear Street bridge. In 1910 he lived with his family at 111 Pond Street and worked for an ice company, as did his father. By 1920 his mother had remarried, to John A. Bach, and John and his siblings all took the Bach surname.

John A. Bach, 58, of 111 Pond lane, who was stricken ill while delivering coal at 533 Carbon st., died about 11 a. m. yesterday of a heart attack, Coroner Harry L. Gilmore reported.

He was a life resident of the north side and owner of the Bach Coal Co. Mr. Bach was a naval veteran of world war 1.

Surviving are three brothers, Frank, Fred and William Bach; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Jaeger, Miss Clara Bach and Mrs. Claude Ramish.

Services will be at 8:30 a. m. Friday at the home of Mrs. Ramish, 711 Spring st., followed by services at 9 a. m. in Assumption church. Burial will be in Assumption cemetery.
