Madeline Marie Marty, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, formerly of Medina, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at home after a prolonged illness. Madeline was born October 12, 1929 in Kenyon, Rice County, MN to the late Felix and Julia (Vanthornout) Logghe. She received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota and certification in nurse anesthesia from St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She was employed as a nurse anesthetist at University Hospital Cleveland and Medina General Hospital for many years. Madeline, along with her husband, "Doc" Marty, were instrumental in leading medical missions and supplies destined for the Philippines and were known to help those in need. She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
She was the beloved wife of Liborio "Doc" Marty, MD to whom she was married 54 years; loving mother of Daniel (Dawn) of Lodi, Leonard (Anna) of Toledo, Benjamin (Sue) of Avon Lake and Julia (Chris) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; dear grandmother of Dominick, Dante, Lila, Ryan and Graham.
Family will receive friends Friday, December 16, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Private family burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
