He was born in Derry, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1923; one of eleven children. He married Beulah Campbell, June 25, 1947 in Salt Lake City. Al served his country in World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and several other Awards of Merit.
Al retired from the Kennecott Smelter and worked at Utah Power & Light, and Lang Company. A member of the LDS Church.
Al is survived by his wife, Beulah, Taylorsville; daughter, Debra and George Baldwin, Taylorsville; sons, Doyle and Joyce, West Jordan; Richard, Salt Lake City; Tim, Draper; three grandsons, Russell and Gregory Baldwin and Casey Carr; one granddaughter, Heidi Baldwin; three brothers, Charles, Glenn and Franklin; two sisters, Mae Carr and Genevieve Reed, all of Pennsylvania. Preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the VA Hospital with a special warmth for the nurses and staff of the HBHC unit and Dr. Menendez for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road, where friends may call Wednesday 5-8 p.m. and Thursday 1-1:45 p.m. Interment in the Redwood Memorial Estates.
