Ellis C. Brownlee, Brookfield native and longtime banker and civic leader, died Wednesday at Boone County Hospital, Columbia. He was 75.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday in Parker Chapel Columbia, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery there.
The Brookfield News Bulletin said Mr. Brownlee was born Dec. 4, 1894 the son of Richard T. and Gertrude Crance Brownlee.
He attended the University of Missouri where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. On June 3, 1916, in Boone County, Missouri, he married the former Mary Margaret Shore. Until his retirement in 1961 he was president of the former Brownlee Moore Banking company. Mr and Mrs Brownlee moved to Columbia in 1963. He was a former director for the Brookfield public school system and held membership in the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Mrs Frank Lee Martin; a son Richard S. Brownlee, Columbia; three grandchildren, a brother Rollins H. Brownlee, Brookfield.
