George G. Stephens

George G. Stephens, 86, a lifetime resident of the Centralia area, died in a Centralia hospital early Saturday.
He was born Sept. 20, 1891, on Lincoln Creek. He was a retired merchant and a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. He owned and operated Stephens Quality Cleaners from 1915 to 1946 then ran Stephens-Moses Mens Wear from 1949 to 1963 after he retired.
He was a life member and past commander of Grant Hodge Post 17 American Legion, Centralia, a life member and past exalted ruler of Centralia-Chehalis Elks Lodge 2835, and was past president of the Centralia Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bertha P. Stephens, Centralia; a daughter, Mrs. James (Marian Lee) Griswold, Portland, Ore.; 3 grandchildren, a niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Bedford of Olympia, and a nephew, Francis Moses, Cosmopolis.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Newell-Hoerling's Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Rice and Rev. Harvey C. Hartling officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.
