John G. Eggers, age 62, of 2421 Riverhills Road, Two Rivers, died Monday evening, March 18, 1996, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 1996, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Arndt with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. He was born February 13, 1934, in Two Rivers, son of Ella Lahey Eggers and the late George W. Eggers. John was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1952. On October 20, 1956, he married the former Joanne Melanson at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. John began his work experience in the Two Rivers area as a commercial fisherman and machine shop owner and operator. He was also employed with Mirro Aluminum Company as a boat designer. This eventually led to the founding of E.V.M., Inc which manufactures auto racing equipment and safety related equipment for the boating industry. John was an avid restorer of antique gas engines, marine engines, and antique tractors. He was a member of the Rogers Street Fishing Village, member of the St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Council. He was also involved in numerous boating committees including the American Boat and Yacht Council. Survivors his mother, Ella Eggers; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Friends may call at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. and Thursday morning at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. John enjoyed sharing his career and many hobbies with his family and friends. Published in The Herald Times Reporter, March 1996.
