Services for Michael Griffin, 21, of Lubbock will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin O'Brien, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
He died Monday, June 25, 2001, at his residence.
He was born July 12, 1979, in Lubbock. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1997 and competed in the academic decathlon.
He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and served as a counselor and worker for the Silver State Youth Camp in Sedelia, Colo.
He worked for Richard Obenhaus as a carpenter.
Survivors include his mother and father, Debbie and David Griffin of Lubbock; a sister, Lesla Griffin of Lubbock; a brother, Gant Griffin of Lubbock; maternal grandparents, Dellwayne and Novella Ivey of Lubbock; and paternal grandparents, Wayne and Almeda Griffin of Lubbock.
