He was a leukemia victim (one that struck at age 7 and went to remission, however, it relapsed that caused his death), and was student council president of St. Mary School in Littleton, Colorado in the 2002-2003 school year. At the time of his death he was a freshman at J.K. Mullen (Denver) High School. He was also a K-State fan and several days before his death, Kansas State University President Dr. John Wefald gave him a football autographed by Coach Bill Snyder and all the players of Kansas State in 2003. A few days later, Coach Snyder and some players called Stables in his hospital room. He left behind his parents and a sister.
