He was a neuroblastoma patient who was given attention by Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. Stoops, his wife, Jason White and Jonathan Jackson went to Cody's house the day before his death. During the last few weeks of Cody's life, he got his wish of a lifetime by having a signed football, team jersey, and memories - all of the Sooners football team. He was also a firefighter for a day, pilot for a lifetime, given an American flag flown in Iraq, played T-Ball in his neighborhood (Moore), has a field there named after him, a storyteller of Jesus stories, a Scooby-Doo fan, and posthumously was awarded a game ball from the game of the very day he died = Oklahoma - Fresno State.
