Dorothy was born on February 22, 1925 in St. Paul, OR. She was the fifth of six children born to Basil and Mary (Kemmerich) Stupfel. She was raised on the family farm in St. Paul and attended St. Paul High School graduating as Valedictorian in the Class of 1942.

She met her future husband, Joseph Duyck, while working at Bernard's Garage in St. Paul. They soon began dating and were married on October 13, 1947 in St. Paul, OR in a double wedding with her sister Anna May and Ted VanKeulen. Following their marriage they made their home in Banks, OR until they moved to the Duyck Family Farm in Roy in 1950. Joe passed away on December 3, 1997 and Dorothy continued to live on the family farm in Roy until 2005 when she moved to Forest Grove.

Dorothy was a loving mother and wife to her seven children and spouse. She was a homemaker, but like most farmers' wives, she also helped in the fields, running the berry patch and coordinating the bookkeeping and other activities on the farm.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic and supported her church, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Roy, OR. She was active in the Altar Society, had chaired the annual Steak Dinner, sewed and baked all year to donate to the parish Holiday Sampler, and received the Outstanding Service Award from St. Francis Parish in 1994.

In addition, for many years she was very active in the Banks High School parents club and auction. She loved to garden raising dahlias and roses. She also loved to sew, was a good cook and an avid baker. Family was important to Dorothy, she would often have a Sunday dinner for family followed up by cards and socializing.

Dorothy loved to travel and enjoyed her many trips and cruises around the world, visiting over 30 countries. On a trip to Rome, Dorothy had the privilege to meet Pope John Paul II and shake his hand.

She is preceded in death by her loving spouse, Joe, and four of her siblings.

Survivors include her seven children and their spouses, Barbara and Tom Jorgenson of Roy, OR; Tom and Vickie Duyck of Roy, OR; Larry Duyck of North Plains, OR; Brian and Lisa Duyck of Powell, WY; Kevin and Carrie Duyck of Roy, OR; David and Denise Duyck of Roy, OR; Doreen and Paul Loofburrow of Newberg, OR; a sister and brother-in-law Bea and Norbert Peters of Roy, OR; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
