ONE DEAD, THREE SERIOUSLY INJURED

On a crossing of the C,M. & St. Paul, Railroad, 2 miles south of Sagola, Michigan, the afternoon passenger train struck an auto, owned & driven by Stanley Gomney, a farmer. In the auto with Mr. Gomney were 3 daughters of a neighbor. When the train had been stopped & back to the crossing, it was found that Ruby Carey, 14 years old, had been killed & Edna Carey, 8 years & Florence Carey, 6 years, had been seriously injured & that Mr. Gomney had also been seriously, if not fatally injured. The body of Ruby Carey & the injured persons were taken to Sagola & afterward sent to Iron Mountain by special train.(July 1917, The Current newspaper, Norway, Dickinson, Michigan.)
