Son of Walter Mobley & Erma Walker

Duncan Walker was born and raised in Arkansas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree, with a double major of computer science and electrical engineering from Wartburg College. Upon graduation he accepted a position at the University Hygenic Labratory as a computer programmer. Duncan worked on database development for the labratory and web page development for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Duncan was a wrestler on the 1996 Wartburg College National Championship team. Duncan died in December 2003 at the age of 30. He had a son and daughter, ages 2 and 4 respectively, at that time.

Spring 2006 Wartburg College, Iowa Alumna creates Duncan Walker Achievement Award.

Walker was living in Des Moines when he was killed by a gunshot wound at the home of his girlfriend Dec. 8, 2003. In July 2005, her estranged husband was convicted of first-degree murder in Walker's death.

Kristina Hill laid the griundwork to establish the Duncan Walker Acedemic Achievement Award in his memory. The cash award will be given at the end of Fall and Winter term to the African-American student who achieves the highest grade point average for that term.
