ALEXANDER, Julian "Alex" Age 86, passed away on Dec. 18, in St. Petersburg. Born in Youngstown, OH on Aug. 26, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alice Alexander. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Alexander; his sons Bob Alexander (Becky) of Rogers, AR, Steve Alexander of St. Petersburg; his daughters Linda Koballa (Michael) of Greensboro, NC and Alice Tennison (Bill) of West Memphis, AR; 12 grandchildren Chris Tennison (Elizabeth), Lisa Dennis (Jay), Lane Clemmons, Danny Faircloth, Tara, Kayla and Haley Alexander, Brooke and Brittniey Bartnick, Michael Koballa Jr., Stephen Alexander and Rob Alexander (Jessica Purvis)). He also leaves 7 great-grandchildren, Claire, Alexander, Caroline and Mary Grace, Dennis, Andrea and William Tennison and Aubri Alexander. He graduated from Purdue University in Lafayette, IN with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1950. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving time in France, Germany and England. While in England, he met the love of his life, Patricia Browne, whom he married on July 6, 1947. He worked at the Standard Register Company for a total of 36 years. In Fayetteville, AR, he was supervisor of the Composing and Plate Department. In Dayton, OH, he was Senior Project Engineer until 1990. After retiring and moving to Florida, he returned to work at Valpak, first in the plate room and then as a proofreader. He retired at 84 years of age, after 15 years of service and receiving many awards there. He enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises, bowling, ping pong, dancing, dining out, reading and was also a professional photographer. He was most passionate when taking photos of family and friends. He was also an avid Laurel and Hardy fan and enjoyed activities as a member of the Sons of the Desert Club. In Ohio, he was awarded numerous awards, including the 1983 Dayton Litho Club Graphic Arts Man of the Year and the 1986-1988 Distinguished Service Award for Litho Club President. He was a life member for 53 years of the Elks Lodge. In Fayetteville, AR, he was the secretary. In St. Petersburg, he was active, attending meetings and dinner dances on most Friday nights. He attended St. Vincent's Episcopal Church. Julian "Alex" will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a good friend to many. All family, friends and guests are invited to attend an Elks Memorial Service at the St. Petersburg Elks Lodge #1224, 2675 66th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33710 at 12:30 pm Wednesday, Dec. 21. Interment will take place at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg.
