Eliza Susanne Borie was the child of John Joseph Borie 1776-1834, a wealthy French shipping merchant and Sophia Beauveau 1789-1876, a Haitian Plantation owners daughter. In 1861 she married the widower William Valentine Keating, a Philadelphia physician. They had 3 children, Mary born 1864 and the twins Jerome and Sophie born 1866. Eliza died of consumption in December 1866 leaving the care of her young children with her husband. Jerome died in 1872 and Mary and Sophie went to live with their maiden Aunt Josephine Borie. Eliza was buried with her parents in the Borie family vault.
