Darren Joel Subarton, 37, passed away on Dec. 27, 2009 in Williamsport at the home of his parents Joseph and Bernadette Subarton where he was visiting.

Darren was born June 14, 1972 in Kingston, Pa. Darren graduated from Loyalsock Township High School in 1990 and attended Kingsborough College in Brooklyn, N.Y. Darren was a decorated Iraqi War Veteran and a member of the Iron Rakkasans, 3-187th Infantry Regiment and 101st Airborne Division.

He is survived by his wife the former Tammy Roberts Subarton and son Sam, both of Harrisburg, Pa.; by his parents Joseph and Bernadette Subarton; his sister Roz Subarton-Howard and her husband Tim of York, Pa.; his brother Christopher Subarton of Cornville, Maine; his nephew James Howard of York, Pa.; and nieces Alexa and Erin Howard also of York. Darren is also survived by uncles and aunts Lorraine and Jim Ford of Oak Ridge, N.J., Carolyn and Bob Kula of Fayetteville, Ga. and Norma Pluskie of Shavertown, Pa.

Darren was preceded in death by his grandparents Julia and John Gutch and Mary and Stanley Subarton, uncles Stanley Subarton and Robert Pluskie.

Funeral services will be held at Northway Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. Military graveside services were provided by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard at Twin Hills Memorial Park Muncy, Pa.

He served in Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during their 2005-2006 deployment to Iraq. Was featured throughout the book, "An Angel From Hell" and the 2009 airing of MTV's "Real World: Brooklyn".
