Mrs. Myrtle Newberry Hicks, 45, died at her home in Morrison City at 3pm Wednesday following an illness of four months.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Kentucky and moved to Tennessee in 1937. She was a member of the Station Creek Baptist Church in Virginia and had attended Morrison Chapel Baptist Church while a resident of that community. Surviving are her husband, James Hicks; four children, Jimmy Jr., Kitty, Pauline, and Imogene Hicks; two daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Earl Cokenour and Mrs. Harold Bell, all of Morrison City; one brother, Abe Newberry, Hazard, KY; her step-mother, Mrs. Bill Hall, Mayking, KY; a half-sister, Miss Mabel Newberry, Mayking, KY; and two half-brothers, Willie and Theodore Newberry, Kona, KY.
Funeral services will with held Friday at 2 pm at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. The Rev. Rand Dillon, the Rev. Troy Jones, and the Rev. Robert Gillespie will officiate. Burial will be in the Morrison Chapel Cemetery.
The body will be removed from Hamlett-Dobson Funeral HOme to the home in Morrison City Thursday morning and will remain until the hour of the service.
