STERLING MAN KILLED BY CAR
WALKING ON HIGHWAY WHEN STRUCK BY IOWA AUTO
STERLING - While walking on Lincoln highway, four miles from here, yesterday afternoon, Sylvester Royer, 72 years old, was struck by an auto driven by an Eclipse, Ia., man.
A truck was also proceeding east, followed by a pleasure car. The truck driver saw the pedestrian in time swerve off and hitting him. but the driver of the private car could not do so, striking Royer and throwing him in a ditch. He suffered compound fracture of both legs, breaking both his arms, and injuring him internally. He died on hour later in a Sterling hospital.
Coroner C.M. Frye will conduct an inquest this afternoon.
Mr. Royer had resided in Sterling for 40 years. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow afternoon and burial will be in Morrison.
