Butch was born May 31, 1957 in Waynesville, North Carolina, the only child of John Michal III and Virginia Norris Michal. He graduated from Pisgah High School in 1975.
He served in the Navy from 1975 until he was honorably discharged in 1979. In October 1975 he married Grovina Henson, and they were married for 13 years. They had a son, John (Mikey) Michal V.
He came to Skagit County in 1992 when he went to work for OSO Lumber. In 1993 he met Lori Corne who he was with for 17 years. He remained good friends with Lori and was liked and loved by her entire family.
After leaving OSO Lumber in 2004 he went to work for G-Bros. in Burlington.
Butch loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, riding a Harley. He was very kind-hearted and had a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved son, John "Mikey" (Tammy) Michal, and beloved granddaughter, Makayla Michal, all of Canton, NC. The Corne family from Skagit County where Butch was a loving part of Charlie & Gail, Bob, Lori and Jeff, Ronnie and Stacey, Jeffrey and Jody, Justin, Kyle and Alex, Johnny, Brandon, Shayna and Jordon; and his loyal Pitbull, Sami, who be loved so much. She was his best friend.
Butch will be laid to rest in North Carolina. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
