John served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was a master furrier and owned his own fur store for many years, he later owned his own cleaning company. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing and the woods. He also loved his farm he moved to 34 years ago. Friends and family knew him as "Paisano".
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Paul Vercelline.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Blom; sons: Lance, and Scott; grandchildren: Jeremy, Misty, and Scott.
Burial in Spruce Hill Cemetery in Alborn.
