Sandy served our country in the Navy for six years serving on the U.S. Greene Destroyer and the USS Storm and in the Army for four years. Sandy's passion was driving truck and operating the heavy equipment while working for Bobby Wardwell. He also always loved working in his gardens. He was known for growing enough vegetables for the entire neighborhood.
He is survived his daughter, Tammy Shorey and grandson, Bobby Alvarado; son, Roland "Bubba" Shorey and his wife, Jenna, and grandson, Jacob and granddaughter, Hannah; his brothers, William Shorey and wife, Gloria, Albert Shorey Jr. and wife, Sally, Stanley Shorey and wife, Robbie; and sister, Linda and husband, Neil. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents; his two sisters, Eleanor and Kay.
Burial will be held in the spring at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport. (Bangor Daily News 12/23/2011)
