MARY JANE SAWYER

Mrs. Mary Jane Sawyer, 75, of Big Rapids, died Friday, September 6, at the Gladwin Area Hospital, following an illness of 3 weeks.

Born in Oscoda Township, Livingston County, August 2, 1899, she was a housewife and had lived in Gladwin County before going to Big Rapids 4 years ago. She was a member of the St. Helen American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Sawyer was a widow.

Surviving are 5 sons, George Dickerson of Fowlerville, Elmer Dickerson of Grand Blanc, Lorenzo Cook of Gladwin, Grover Cook of Big Rapids, and Rodger Cook of Flint; 5 daughters, Mrs. Fannie Good and Mrs. Lovina Londo, both of Big Rapids, Mrs. Emma Ostrander of Spring Valley, Calif., Mrs. Margaret McCann of Flint, and Mrs. Janet Campbell of Emeryville, Calif.; 1 brother, George Austin of Howell; and 30 grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death.

Services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home - Gladwin Chapel, with Rev. Byron Hatch officiating. Burial was in Butman Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 9-11/1974
