He married Myrtle Van Vickle on Nov. 5, 1937. They lived in the Brooten area where they raised their family.
Farming and general carpenter contracting was their way of life until 1955 when they moved to Babbitt. Ernest worked for Reserve Mining Co. in the mechanical maintenance department until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands, particularly woodworking. His woodworking talents included things from crafting furniture to very detailed carvings.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; sons: Arvid (Judy) Olson, and Russell (Karen) Olson; grandchildren: Jeff Olson, Suzy Affeldt, Jackie (Pete OFallon) Olson, Denise (David) Ramfjord, Brian (Sue) Olson and Tim (Missie) Olson; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Edna Olson, and Eleanor Solbrekon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
Burial will be in the Argo Cemetery in Babbitt.
