Passes Away
ESCONDIDO. April 25 -- Word has been received of the death in La Mesa of John Willard, at the age of 85. He came to Woodland, Calif. with his parents in 1849, and took up a homestead in San Deigo county, near Escondido, in 1877. He lived there until his removal to Escondido, a few years ago. His home was on Fourth avenue. For the last three years his home has been with his brother, Attorney F. P. Willard, also formerly of Escondido, now residing at La Mesa. Mr. Willard leaves a daughter, Mrs. Sally Crawford, three brothers and one sister. He resided in California 75 years, 47 of which were spent in San Diego county.
