Devoted Husband, a loving father, brother and grandfather
A native of Lexington, Tennessee, Bobby was born on April 28, 1937, the son of the late Elbert and Ludell Garner. He grew up working on his family farm. He graduated from Lexington High school in 1956 and was known as "Little Joe Garner" on the Tiger Football team. He fell in love with a cute little cheerleader, Janice Fizzell, who later became his wife on April 6, 1957. This was the beginning of a beautiful loving forty five years of marriage.
Bobby was a dedicated member of the Northside Lions club for approximately thrity years. He served as Chapter President and received the Melvin Jones Award. He also served in the National Guard for eleven years. He was a member of Oakfield Baptist Church and was a former member of Englewood Baptist Church. Boby had acquired many friends throughout the years from his employment with Hav-A-Tampa Corporation, Metropolitan and Allstate Insurance from which he recently retired. He enjoyed wood working, boating, and camping with his grandchildren. He was best known for his homegrown watermelons which he shared with many.
Survived by his wife, Janice Frizzell Garner, two daughters, Jo Garner of Memphis an Angela Garner Johnson and husband Steve of Jackson. Two granchildren, Chad Johnson and Angelina Johnson of Jackson. A sister, Norma Jean Threadgill of Lexington and a half brother Robert Garner of Jackson.
