Mr. Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from May 21, 1938 to Aug 17, 1945 as a PTR3 (Painter, 3rd Class Petty Officer). After the war, he worked in the Steel Mills in Hobart, Indiana, where he lived till after his retirement. After retirement, he returned to Bedford, where he lived until shortly before his death.
Survivors include his wife, their daughter, Janice Sue Arthur of Hobart, IN, three brothers, Raymond Gerald Arthur of Bedford, Rollie Merle Arthur of Chicago, and Erastus Earl Arthur of Michigan City, Indiana, and two sisters, Ruby Pearl (Roy) Howe of Clearsprings, Indiana and Ruth Beryle (Leston) Hillenburg of Bedford, also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lizzie Arthur, in infancy.
