James (Bert) Albert Wilcox, 87, of Thorp, died Wednesday, January 19, 1994 at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg, Washington. He was born on December 8, 1906 in Thorp, Washington, a son of James A. and Olive (Newman) Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox and Elsie Carpenter were married on July 3, 1929 in Yakima, Washington. She preceded him in death on April 25, 1987.

Mr. Wilcox was a member of the Thorp Community Church and a member of the Thorp Cemetery Board for many years. He was active in the restoration of the Thorp Grist Mill, helped put in the flume which is located between Cle Elum and Ellensburg and was involved in the construction of U. S. 10 between Seattle and Ellensburg. For the past several years he had been a self-employed brick mason.

Survivors include his daughter, Carol Collins of Lynnwood, Wa.; sister, Hazel Wilcox of Ellensburg, Wa.; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and six sisters, and a son, Robert.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 1994 at Thorp Community Church in Thorp, Washington. Reverend Roger McCune will be officiating.
