He was the son of Rev. Roy and Mamie McPhatter Arnette.

He was a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army, having served in Wiesbaden, Germany during the Korean War.

He was member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday School for over 50 years, mainly the Mary Cribb and Boys Youth Classes, was a member of the choir, a MYF counselor and former Sunday School Superintendent.

He was employed with White Poultry Company as a route salesman and retired from Perdue as distribution supervisor.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, two daughters, three grandchildren, six great-granddaughters, and a brother.
