Sarah Alice Rue Lyle (named so in the family Bible but later called Alice Ruth) was the third daughter of blacksmith Jefferson Young Lyle (1836- 1923)and Sarah Jane West Lyle (1842 - 1926). Her father, with his son Albert Sidney Lyle, operated a buggy and blacksmith shop on Cherry Street, Chattanooga and moved the family from Mississippi 1893. She married Charles H. Pinson in Chattanooga August 12, 1902; they had Leonard Curtis Pinson June 11, 1903. Charles Pinson died 1904 and she married Adolphus Byrd September 9, 1906. They had son William Howard Byrd June 14 1909, and Mattie Louise (Byrd) Autry August 14, 1912. After the death of Adolphus Byrd 1916, she married Gus Alexander Lane of Knoxville, Tennessee, and was still married to him at the time of the deaths of her parents (according to 1920 Census, Chattanooga and funeral articles posted 1923, 1926). She had no children by him. She was divorced by the 1930 census, when she was living with her married daughter Louise and Fred Autry. G.A. Lane married Mandy Thornburg 1928 and died 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
