Lea Verda was the daughter of Sam Pearcy and Mary "Molly" Pittman Pearcy. In 1904 she married Gus Sellers in Garland, Arkansas. They had the following children: Thelma Sellers Childs, Josie Sellers Jones, Onais Sellers and Grady Sellers. Onais was killed in action in WWII. When most of her children moved to Galveston in the early 1940's, she moved with them since she was now widowed. Verda's daughter, Josie, married Irvin C. Jones whose father became Verda's second husband. He was called "Dad" Jones by the family.
