Margie Earlene Woods of Caruthersville has passed away on December 14, 2011. Margie was born in Selmer, Tennessee on February 17, 1927 and lived to be 84 years, 9 months and 17 days of age.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved to quilt, cook and garden. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville and she loved to spend time with family and friends.
She was united in marriage to George R. Woods on April 18, 1942 in Blytheville, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnson and Mamie Hubbard Channell, her brother, Wayne Channell, four sisters, Jimmie June Channell, Virginia Huckabee, Marie Hodge and Faye Nunnery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Alice Virginia Smith and her husband Tom of Lee's Summit, Missouri, George R. Woods Jr. and his wife Shirley of Caruthersville, Jerry David Woods and his wife Mary of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Melinda Scifres and her husband Tom of Caruthersville, Kathy Remerez and her husband Tommy of Cleveland, Tennessee, her sister, Frances of California, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville. Pallbearers were Tommy Woods and Shane Moore.
