Always called 'Edie' , short for Edith. She was born on Blue Hill Avenue, Boston,Mass, married Fred Murray and lived in Cape Elizabeth from then on. She was a tomboy preferring activies outdoors with the boy - shooting, running the logs, fishing, etc. She graduated form Gorham High School. Her first shcool was in Buxton she she also did janitorial service which was the custom. Later she taught in Frankfort, Maine, then followed her sister Grace, to Cape Elizabeth. She was a school teacher at Pond Cove school. Their home was a nice farm which was taken by eminent domain for the war, located at Two Light state park(see photo). Later she attended Gorham and Castine Normal Schools and Boston University.

While in Cape Elizabeth, she met and married Fred P. Murray, a widower with two small children, Clinton and Harold. Mr. Murray son of William and Elizabeth Dyer Murray was a builder. They had two children of their own, Fred William and Constance Carolyn. After the children had grown Eith went back to teaching in Cape Elizabeth until she retired in 1946.
