Two Rivers Machinist
Peter O. Lahey, 83, of 2517 Lincoln Ave., Two Rivers, retired longtime maintenance man at Mirro Aluminum Co. Plants No. 1 and 4 at Two Rivers and a member of one of the community's earlier families, died Thursday afternoon at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Reed Forbush officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Peter Oscar Lahey was born Aug. 8, 1884, in the Town of Two Rivers, son of the late Edward Lahey and Ann Williamson Lahey. After attending the Two Rivers public schools, Mr. Lahey learned the machinist trade at the old Mann Brothers Pail Factory. Later he was employed as a machinist at Kahlenberg Bros. and installed the firm's marine engines on Great Lakes boats. Moving to Snohomish, Wash., he pursued his trade in the machine shop of one of the state's larger sawmills for three years where at nearby Three Lakes he married Hettie Smith Nov. 11, 1911. She died at Two Rivers in 1952. In May of 1955 he married Mrs. Lottie Rymer at Two Rivers. For 38 years until his retirement in 1958 he served as maintenance man at the two Mirro plants at Two Rivers. A lifelong member of Grace Congregational Church, Mr. Lahey was a 50-year member of Two Rivers Lodge No. 200, F. and A. M. He also was affiliated with the Barney G. Lyman Chapter No. 116, Royal Arch Masons, of Two Rivers, and Two Rivers Chapter No. 229, Order of the Eastern Star. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, a son, Daniel of Sunnyvale, Calif., a sister, Mrs. George Hollander, of Manitowoc, a brother, George R., of Two Rivers, two stepdaughters, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sons, three brothers, and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, where Eastern Star memorial services will be at 7 o'clock and Masonic memorial serves will be at 7:30 o'clock this Friday evening. The casket will be taken to the church, at 11 a.m. Saturday, where the body will lie in state until time of service. Published in The Manitowoc Herald Times – Two Rivers Reporter, Fri. His daughter in law, Elizabeth Leeman Lahey, wrote of him: "He was quite a serious man. I guess he became serious because he had to support and care for his six brothers and sisters after his folks died."

George was a son of Edward Lahey and Anna Cotting Williamson.

He was born and raised at Two Rivers, Wisconsin. He was enumerated there with his mother and siblings in the 1900 US Census and the 1905 Wisconsin State Census.

After the death of his mother, Peter was enumerated with his brother George, and his sisters Ella, Lilly, and Louisa, in Two Rivers, in a house that Peter owned, in the 1910 US Census.

Peter married first Hettie Ermina Smith on 11 November 1911 at Three Lakes, Washington.

They were enumerated at Montague, Michigan in the 1920 US Census, and at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, in the 1930 and 1940 US Censuses. They were enumerated at Mishicott, Wisconsin in the 1950 US Census.

Hettie died in a car accident in 1951.

Peter married second, Charlotte Heinemann Rymer in May 1955 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
