Roman Catholic Saint, scholastic theologian and philosopher. He was canonized in 1482 and declared a Doctor of the Church in the year 1588 by Pope Sixtus V His relics were venerated in Lyon until the Wars of Religion. When the Huguenots captured the city in 1562 they burned his body. An arm and hand, which had previously been sent to his hometown, are the only parts of his body that still exists today.
